Conor Deasy

Conor hails from Cork in the South of Ireland. He graduated from University College Cork in 2000 and after spending a year as Intern in Cork University Hospital moved to St. James's University Hospital in Dublin where he did 3 years of basic specialty training in Emergency Medicine rotating through Emergency Medicine, ICU/Anaesthetics, Trauma and Orthopaedics, and General Medicine. He became a higher specialist trainee on the Irish Emergency Medicine training program in 2004 passing the fellowship exam of the UK College of Emergency Medicine (FCEM) in April 2009 and receiving his certificate of specialist training in June 2009 just before arriving here to take up his PhD studies. Not surprisingly, Conor's area of interest is Prehospital and Emergency care. His PhD is in the area of cardiac arrest and is in collaboration with Ambulance Victoria. He will work with the Prehospital Emergency and Trauma group at the DEPM where his supervisors are Professor Peter Cameron, A/Professor Steve Bernard, Dr.Linton Harriss and Dr.Karen Smith of Ambulance Victoria. He will also be employed part time as an International Fellow at the Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre.
