Sue has recently completed her PhD through the Department of Medicine, University of Adelaide. Her thesis investigated whether an intervention, developed following investigation of current incident reporting practices, and barriers to reporting using qualitative and quantitative research methods, can improve reporting rates and change types of incidents reported by doctors and nurses.
Past roles have included working for the Department of Health in South Australia in establishing a state-wide incident reporting system, managing a number of clinical studies in the Clinical Epidemiology Unit, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, facilitating RCA workshops for the Department of Health, and working as part of an expert group in the establishment of Victorian Infection Control Nosocomial Infection Surveillance System (VICNISS). Sue’s principal interest is in the epidemiology of medical error.
